I LOVE TO BE ALONE AMONG THE OLDER TREES

I love to be alone
Among the older trees
And marvel as to how they’ve grown
So patiently with ease.
The years have left them unperturbed
By what prevails around them;
Their freedom yet remains uncurbed,
Nothing can astound them.
I look into their bosoms warm,
The loving care that’s in them,
With nests of birds away from harm,
Sheltered free within them.
In spring when they’re fully dressed
And wear their blossoms pretty,
Each bird of song must do its best
To harmonize its ditty.
The message that those trees convey
Is confidence untold,
That they are well disposed to stay,
In spite of being so old!
