Heaven and Hell

Poem:

If we think there is a heaven

After we’re gone,

Or a hell of damnation

Second to none,

Forget not these are here

While we’re still around —

A heaven and hell

To which we are bound,

Where the sinner seems touched

With the brightest paint

That should be reserved

For the mortified saint;

Where a child of love

Can hardly wait

To attain a legitimate,

Heavenly state;

Where the brute force of evil

In its heaven on earth

Appears to be guaranteed

Freedom of mirth.

The stairway to heaven

Is right here to stay,

Or the slide down to hell,

Whichever is the way.

We will never know really

The reason why

There is a heaven and hell

After we die.
